Experience in my own life has taught me that a change in diet and lifestyle can change everything.
“I’m healthy because I’m not sick,” was the way I used to think. Big deal my stomach was noisy and upset after almost every meal. So what that I always felt tired and totally stressed out. So does everyone else, right?
I thought how I felt was normal because everyone else I knew felt the same way. But I got tired of feeling sick and stressed out and tired all the time. I knew that this could not be the kind of future I was meant to have. Something had to change.
I found a Health Coach who helped me learn the effects of food and lifestyle choices on my body.
I used to be one of those angry hungry people. You know the ones who go from fine to “I have to eat now or I am going to bite your head off!” My husband used to carry snacks when we went out just out to keep the “HAngry” monster away. And it always seemed, at the end of the day, I barely had enough energy to crawl into bed. I had been an avid athlete all the way through college, but now I couldn’t find the energy or the motivation to exercise.
With the help of my Health Coach I began to experiment with the foods in my diet to learn how they affected me. I eliminated grains and found my digestion was drastically improved and my stomach no longer hurts after every meal. I started paying attention to the balance of protein, fat, and carbohydrate in my meals and the “HAngry” monster stopped showing up – completely. There are no more 3 o’clock trips to Starbucks, because my energy levels are consistent throughout the day.
Consistent energy levels also mean I have plenty of energy to exercise no matter what the time of day. In addition to helping me understand the impact of diet choices on my body, my health coach also helped me learn how to exercise in a way the would maximize my time, health, and results. I no longer spend hours in the gym like I did in college and I am in the best shape of my life.
When given half a chance, the body will heal itself.
My approach is simple. Eat how your body was designed to eat, move how your body was designed to move, and you will reap the benefits of true and lasting health. A few simple shifts in my diet and lifestyle have moved me from feeling tired and stressed like everyone else to feeling better than I thought was possible.
I am now a certified Health Coach through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP) educated by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) as well as a CrossFit Level 1 certified instructor.
My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and the importance of functional fitness as preventive care.
